Location: Community in Bangladesh
Project Type: Construction of a deep well for clean water access
Impact: Access to safe water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene; reduction in waterborne disease; improved school attendance and overall wellbeing
Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, and its geography presents unique challenges. The combination of low-lying land, heavy monsoon rains, seasonal flooding, and frequent cyclones leaves large parts of the population exposed to unsafe water sources. Water contamination is a persistent issue that affects health, hygiene, and overall quality of life for millions of families.
At Well-Good, we are determined to help communities overcome these challenges by providing reliable access to safe water. Our project in Bangladesh focused on constructing a well to provide safe, clean water that can be used not only for drinking but also for cooking and maintaining proper hygiene.
The impact of this project is significant. By reducing reliance on contaminated surface water, families are less vulnerable to waterborne diseases, which are a common threat in flood-affected areas. Having access to a nearby, safe water source also saves families hours of walking each day, giving them more time to work, learn, and build stronger lives. Children, in particular, benefit from improved health and better school attendance, while parents gain peace of mind knowing that their households can rely on a safe and sustainable supply of water.
This project demonstrates how practical solutions, like the construction of a single well, can bring long-lasting change to entire communities. By working with our supporters and partners, Well-Good continues to deliver projects that not only address immediate needs but also strengthen resilience against the ongoing challenges posed by climate and geography in Bangladesh.
